Designing the Pergola

During our initial design consultation, we guided the homeowner through the many pergola models we had available. They eventually selected the Brustor B200XL, a heavy-duty aluminium model with a louvred roof that can be opened and rotated via remote control. Opening the louvres would allow warm sunshine and a gentle breeze to flow through, while closing the louvres would create a cosy, sheltered space perfect for relaxing. This would allow the patio to be used whatever the weather - rain, wind, or shine.

1. Size

After carefully measuring the existing patio and listening to the homeowner's requirements, we constructed the pergola to the dimensions of 4700 mm x 2100 mm. This size was large enough to comfortably accommodate both people and the outdoor furniture the homeowner intended to place underneath, yet not so big as to risk overlapping the nearby steps or interfering with the fence or exterior of the house.

2. Aesthetics

The homeowner wanted their new pergola to integrate seamlessly with the rest of their property, so we designed it with a frame and louvres powder-coated in a custom colour: Telegrey (RAL 7045). This meant that the pergola perfectly complemented the grey windows and doors of their home, creating a sleek and cohesive aesthetic.

3. Optional Upgrades

The homeowners wanted a pergola they could use year-round and even at night, so they decided to take their chosen design a step further by investing in some optional upgrades. They choose to integrate:

• Three LED light strips in the louvres, which provided warm light at night while creating a beautiful, glowing ambience.
• Four motorised side screens that could be retracted into the pergola roof or lowered to provide a totally sheltered and private space.
• A Brustor 2 KW infrared heater to keep the space warm and cosy during chilly nights, evenings, and the colder months.

These additions transformed their patio into a year-round oasis, usable no matter the weather or season.

The End Result

The new pergola breathed new life into the patio. It created a stylish, modern space that flowed seamlessly with the existing architecture, making it perfect for year-round enjoyment.
